Career Highlight:

Disney World Marathon- my first!

Greatest Life Accomplishment:

Going half way around the world to South Africa to work with wildlife all by myself!

How I got involved: When I was in HS and cut back on the amount of time I played soccer and baskerball, I stayed active by running a few miles. By the time I went to college, I decided that I would use my free time to train for a marathon- Disney World, January 2005. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I couldn't wait to pick out which marathon to do next! I was hooked. And since then, I have found that having a marathon to prepare for gives running a purpose, and provides me with a healthy outlet.
Inspiration:

In the past I have tutored elementary students, worked in the local soup kitchen, and handed out PB&J to homeless people in New York City. Overseas I have worked on building a school in St. Lucia, an orphanage in Nicaragua, and rehabilitating monkeys in South Africa. Beginning in the fall, I will be volunteering at a nativity school in New Haven, hopefully beginning their first track team! Throughout high school, I played basketball and soccer until I realized that my passion is in distance running and other endurance activities. Since then, I have run five marathons, including one in Disney World, Vermont, New York City, Washington, DC, and Boston.

Cause Related/Green Planet Efforts: I volunteer all over the world, my diet is eco-friendly vegetarian, and I bike whenever possible instead of taking a car.
