about michele

Michele Thorne is a dynamic health and wellness educator, gourmet vegan, and raw foods chef. She specializes in educating about the healthful benefits of detoxing, eating alkaline, and boosting the immune system with foods. Michele has the unique ability to empower everyday people with simple information and practical tools to make healthy, delicious choices. She regularly advises, “Do your research and follow your instincts. Find out what works for you and seek the advice of your inner self. Then decide what to do.”

Originally from New York, Michele’s career began in graphic design where she headed an award-winning firm. When a friend became ill, she researched, attended workshops, and read voraciously to find holistic ways to help her friend get well. A student of her own advice, the result of her research sparked an ongoing 15 year immersion into wellness and natural foods studies.

Since then, Michele has been a personal chef for luminaries in NY’s design and fashion industries. In 2003, as the Executive Raw Foods Chef at Counter, she pioneered an innovative raw food menu. The following year Counter was named NY’s Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year. Her menus have been featured in the New York Times, The New Yorker, and Time Out New York. She has made two appearances on the Food Network, once in 2004 on “What’s Hot, What’s Cool” and again on “Unwrapped” set to air in the first quarter of 2007.

She joined Metromint in 2006 as the Wellness & Outreach Director where she is building bridges connecting the surrounding geographic and philosophical communities.

Whether online, on TV, on the radio, or in person, Michele encourages children and adults to think, eat, and be healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
